Wings/ Paul McCartney
With the number one hit “Mull of Kintyre”, Wings achieved one of the best-selling songs in the United Kingdom in 1977. After the break-up of the Beatles, Paul McCartney founded the band in 1971 and released several successful albums up to 1981, which regularly appeared in the international charts. The group mainly worked with EMI/Capitol and shaped the pop and rock landscape of the 1970s.
Wings/ Paul McCartney – Background & Discography
Wings emerged as Paul McCartney’s follow-up project after the end of the Beatles and were internationally successful in the 1970s with albums such as “Band on the Run” and “Venus and Mars”. The band combined pop, rock and occasionally folk elements, with McCartney’s style in songwriting and vocals always present. Even after the band split up, the repertoire remained relevant, with many tracks still a regular part of McCartney’s live shows and listened to by new generations.
