Udo Lindenberg
With “Sonderzug nach Pankow”, a German song gained widespread attention in both West and East Germany for the first time in 1983. Since the early 1970s, the musician has been one of the most well-known figures in German-language rock music. His albums and singles regularly appear in the German charts.
Udo Lindenberg – Success & musical relevance
The breakthrough came with the album “Andrea Doria” (1973), on which German lyrics in a rock context reached a large audience for the first time. Hits such as “Cello”, “Horizont” and “Ich mach mein Ding” significantly shaped the development of German-language pop and rock. Lindenberg’s socially critical lyrics, his distinctive spoken singing style and collaborations with numerous guest musicians have secured him a permanent place in the German music scene to this day. Even after decades, he remains present with new releases and tours.
