Pink Floyd
With the album “The Dark Side of the Moon”, the band changed progressive rock in 1973 and established complex studio productions with the use of synthesisers. The early 1970s mark their phase of experimental concept albums, shaped by collaboration with producer Alan Parsons. Influences from psychedelic, blues and experimental rock music are clearly audible in the group’s recordings.
Pink Floyd – Sound & Production Style
Guitar effects, atmospheric synthesisers and sophisticated studio arrangements characterise the music of Pink Floyd. The collaboration with EMI and Harvest Records, as well as the long-standing production by members such as Roger Waters and David Gilmour, led to a distinctive sound that sits between psychedelic rock and progressive song structures. Drums, bass and atmospheric soundscapes are often at the forefront, while lyrics frequently address social criticism.
