Lucio Battisti
In the 1970s, a distinctive blend of Italian songwriting and internationally influenced production characterised releases on labels such as Numero Uno. His music was released not only in Italy, but also in Spain in versions sung in Spanish. His collaboration with lyricist Mogol shaped many of his better-known pieces.
Lucio Battisti – Sound & Production Style
Stylistically, Battisti’s recordings are marked by the use of acoustic guitar, orchestral arrangements and prominent bass lines. Production was often overseen by Mogol, who was chiefly responsible for the lyrical direction. Typical of the 1970s are the clearly separated instrumental tracks and the focus on melody, while synthesisers and electric guitars are used subtly. The releases show influences from pop, rock and canzone.
