Hubert Kah
With synthesisers, drum machines and English-language versions of well-known songs, the band deliberately moved between the German NDW scene and internationally oriented pop from the mid-1980s onwards. The collaboration with producer Michael Cretu shaped many of their productions. Special single and maxi editions were also released outside the German-speaking world, often featuring exclusive mixes.
Hubert Kah – Sound & Production Style
The typical Hubert Kah sound combines electronic arrangements with catchy melodies and danceable rhythms. Notable features include the programmed drum section, dominant synthesiser layers and the use of effects, as became evident in Michael Cretu’s productions from 1984 onwards. The band released music in both German and English, with English-language versions produced specifically for international markets. Releases appeared on labels such as CBS and Blow Up.
