Founded in London, the group worked closely with producer Mickie Most and the label RAK Records.
Hot Chocolate – Sound & Production Style
The music of Hot Chocolate combines danceable funk grooves with soulful vocals and catchy pop structures. Their productions are characterised by electric guitar, keyboards and a distinctive rhythm section. Most studio recordings were made under the direction of Mickie Most, who ensured a clear, radio-friendly mix. The arrangements feature brass, strings and prominent basslines – typical of British pop productions of the late 1970s. RAK Records released numerous singles and albums by the band.
