Bucks Fizz
With their victory at the Eurovision Song Contest 1981 and the international success of “Making Your Mind Up”, the British group Bucks Fizz came into focus for collectors who value rare pressings from the early 80s pop era. In addition to their well-known chart positions, the various 7- and 12-inch editions are a central topic when assembling complete discographies. Many collectors specifically look for first pressings and special maxi versions.
Bucks Fizz collectables & pressings
In the collectors’ context, various editions of Bucks Fizz stand out for their range of formats: the band released numerous singles as 7-inch pressings as well as maxi-singles on 12-inch, often with different B-sides or extended versions. CD editions of later albums are also significant for completists. Differences between UK and international pressings, varying cover artwork and special editions make the field of collecting Bucks Fizz particularly diverse. An original pressing from the year of release is often more sought-after than later reissues.
Bucks Fizz rarities – what collectors should know
The single Your piece of the action (7'' Vinyl) is one of the early releases and is sought after as a first pressing among collectors. With The Land Of Make Believe (12'' Vinyl Maxi) there is a typical maxi version, as produced for DJs and collectors in the early 80s. The later album Writing On The Wall (CD) offers material from a later phase of the band, which has not appeared on vinyl in this form.
The range of formats from Bucks Fizz offers collectors numerous opportunities to search specifically for rare editions and different pressings.
