Bee Gees
With “Stayin’ Alive”, the group achieved a worldwide number 1 hit in 1977, shaping the soundtrack to the film “Saturday Night Fever” and bringing the band into the spotlight of the international pop and disco scene. The band, formed by brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb, had already been releasing albums and singles regularly since the 1960s, with a style ranging from beat and pop to soul and disco. The Bee Gees remained active as songwriters and performers into the 2000s.
Bee Gees – Background & Discography
Founded in the early 1960s in Australia, the Bee Gees were initially known for harmonious pop and ballads such as “Massachusetts”. With their shift towards R&B and disco elements from the mid-1970s, they achieved international chart successes like “Night Fever”, “How Deep Is Your Love” and “Tragedy”. Their songs were released on labels including Polydor and RSO. The songwriting trio wrote hits for numerous other artists and can still regularly be found on collectors’ records today.
